Even though establishing CBR programmes with a community development focus is the primary goal of the center, those in need of immediate assistance in non – programme areas cannot be ignored. To provide this type of assistance ( medical rehabilitation, provision of assistive devices, training and education) the center has developed an ongoing individual aid programme. The center operates this programme in cooperation with various levels of goverment who identify people in need. The center then facilities immediate service by seeking funds from the family, community and local levels of governments to supplement core funds from the programme. The programme not only provides emergency assistance, but also serves as an entry point for advocacy for people with disabilities and provides an opportunity to work with the community to establish their own programmes to provide this type of assistance on a long term basis. The programme also serves as an entry into communities for other organizations who offer similar services but are not able to readily identify those in need of services.
